Do you currently own a DSLR or mirrorless camera? If so, have you ever marveled at the remarkable low-light capabilities of modern digital cameras? These advanced cameras can capture breathtaking images even at night.

By mastering the right techniques, you can capture twinkling stars and even immortalize the mesmerizing beauty of the Milky Way.

A deep understanding of manipulating your camera settings in low-light environments can unveil a whole new world of photographic opportunities, enabling you to seize the elusive allure of the night sky.

In this two-part Milky Way photography class, we will have a zoom meeting to get you familiar with the settings so you will learn how to capture stunning images of the Milky Way. You will also receive a copy of the settings right before the zoom meeting.

ZOOM MEETING  FROM 7:00 PM TILL ABOUT 8 PM.  This link will go out the morning of the 24th

We will also show you some of the processing procedures in LRC and other software to get fantastic images (about one hour).

We will cover topics such as camera settings, lens considerations, night photography etiquette, white balance adjustments, exposure, and basic processing.

Additionally, we will have several instructors on-site to help you achieve the best images.

Due to the nature of the sky and in the event of clouds, we will reschedule the class.  Since we have no control over the sky there will be no refunds for no shows.

YOU DO NOT NEED ANY SORT OF PROFESSIONAL CAMERA.  ONLY A DSLR WITH THE ABILITY TO MANUALLY FOCUS

• A WIDE-ANGLE LENS IN THE RANGE OF 18MM OR SIMILAR.

• A VERY STURDY TRIPOD. –

READ THIS...

WARNING THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY.  A LIGHTWEIGHT TRIPOD WITH A PLASTIC MOUNT WILL NOT WORK AND WE CAN’T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMAGES NOT BEING IN FOCUS.  EVERY YEAR A FEW STUDENTS SHOW UP WITH THESE AND CANNOT GET GOOD IMAGES SINCE THE CAMERA FALLS BECAUSE OF THE ANGLE OF THE SKY.

PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE THE CLASS AND WE WILL GIVE YOU A DISCOUNT ON A NEW TRIPOD.  iF YOUR TRIPOD HAS AN ARM ONLY AT THE READ OF THE UNIT...IT IS A VIDEO TRIPOD AND NOT GOOD!

• A CHAIR TO RELAX IN

• WATER

• A RED FLASHLIGHT (SO YOU DON’T DISTURB OTHERS) Available at the store. $7.99

• A BLANKET IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHERE YOUR BUTTONS ARE – TO PLACE OVER YOUR CAMERA AND HEAD AS YOU MAKE ADJUSTMENTS.

• ***DO NOT WEAR RED HEAD LAMPS AS YOU WILL TURN AND EFFECT OTHERS IMAGES.  IF YOU HAVE ONE AND IT’S TOO BRIGHT, WE MAY ASK YOU TO TURN IT OFF.

We can discuss special questions you may have before the Zoom meeting or at the meeting.
